Bureau of Justice Statistics Releases 2023 School Crime and Safety Report

The Bureau of Justice Statistics and the National Center for Education Statistics have published the 2023 Report on Indicators of School Crime and Safety. Key findings include a decrease in nonfatal criminal victimization rates among students ages 12 to 18 from 2012 to 2022, reduced reports of bullying, and a decline in physical fights on school property. Youth E-Cigarette Use Drops to Lowest Level in a Decade
 

In a positive trend for public health, youth e-cigarette use has hit its lowest level in 10 years. According to the FDA, the use of nicotine pouches among young people also remains low, marking significant progress in combating nicotine addiction in youth.

Kids Online Health and Safety Task Force Announces Recommendations and Best Practices for Safe Internet Use

Today, the Kids Online Health and Safety Task Force, co-led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the U.S. Department of Commerce’s (DOC) National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), released a new report titled "Online Health and Safety for Children and Youth: Best Practices for Families and Guidance for Industry."
