Welcome to Mental Health Awareness Month! Established in 1949, this month is dedicated to increasing awareness about the importance of mental health and celebrating recovery from mental illness. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) every May to emphasize the vital role mental health plays in overall well-being and to provide resources and support to individuals and communities.

Weekly Focus for Mental Health Awareness Month

  • Week 1: May 1-4 (Older Adults)Supporting the unique mental health needs of older adults.

  • Week 2: May 5-11 (Children and Teens)Building resilience and self-care skills in children and teens.
